Patricia O’Reilly’s Workshops
As with many of the best things in life I came to this part of my career accidentally when a colleague asked me to give him a hand with a workshop in Co Clare. It was the first time I realised that I knew something about how to write, how to edit work to a professional standard, the ropes of getting published, and, most importantly, that I loved facilitating people who wanted to write.
Since then I haven’t looked back. I’ve worked with UCD, the VEC, FAS, the ICA, Listowel Writers’ Week, The Patrick MacGill Summer School, and given talks and convened workshops all over the country.
Several people in the various groups have won awards, published books and short stories, created radio documentaries and written radio plays.
As part of UCD’s Adult Education Programme 2009-10, I’m giving workshops titled The Nuts & Bolts of Writing, The Plot Thickens and The Business of Writing, as well as convening several workshops around the country. See Diary.
I run an on-line help/editing writing resource to help writers on a one-to-one basis. My blog ‘love writing’ is part of this. Both have taken off well, I’ve good feedback and work successfully with writers at various stages.
